WHAT IS NO KIDDING?
No Kidding! is an all volunteer, non-profit social club for adult couples and singles who, for whatever reason, have never had children. It is not a business or a dating service. We are an adult social club -- nothing more, nothing less.
WHY DO ORGANIZATIONS LIKE NO KIDDING! EXIST?
Because, whereas many organizations exist for those who have become parents, few organizations exist whereby the childfree can meet each other for activities of interest to them. No Kidding! allows adults to get together for fun activities with other adults who have other things to talk about besides kids.
DOES NO KIDDING! HATE CHILDREN?
Simply being childfree does not indicate a person's attitude toward children. There are no collective philosophies here other than simply not wanting to have children.
WHAT DOES “CHILDFREE” MEAN? AREN’T YOU “CHILDLESS”?
"Childless" implies that people are lacking something in their lives by not having children. Childfree people do not feel their lives are somehow "less" for not having children. Each individual has his/her own personal reasons for making the choice to be childfree.
IS NO KIDDING! A SINGLES GROUP?
While some of our members are single, No Kidding is not a singles group. Membership in No Kidding is open to any adult who has never parented, regardless of marital status.
IS NO KIDDING! A SUPPORT GROUP?
Absolutely not. We are a group of adults who CELEBRATE the childfree lifestyle.
WHAT TYPES OF EVENTS DOES NO KIDDING! OFFER?
No Kidding sponsors a wide variety of events. Past events include; dinners, brunches, happy hours, holiday parties and more. We welcome new event ideas and are open to almost anything!
WHO IS YOUR TYPICAL NO KIDDING! MEMBER?
Our chapter is made up of a wide range of people. While members in the Albuquerque Chapter range in age from their 20s to their 50s, most are in their 30s and 40s. On our member list, couples, singles, men, women, students and working professionals are all represented. Most members of No Kidding have thought long and hard about parenthood and many have concluded (for various reasons) that it really isn’t right for them, while some are still in the decision-making process. They have all joined No Kidding to be able to socialize with other adults who can be spontaneous and who won’t alienate them by talking about kids all the time. Some No Kidding members adore children, some like children, some are neutral toward children, some dislike children, and some can’t stand children. You’re likely to meet people from all five categories at No Kidding activities. We hope to welcome any and all mature individuals who wish to be a part of a childfree lifestyle.
WHO CAN BE A NO KIDDING! MEMBER?
Membership in No Kidding is open to any adult who has never had children regardless of gender, age, color, race, marital status, lifestyle, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
IS THERE A MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION?
No but it would be nice to hear that you are interested so that we can make a note of your email address and notify you of events. You are also welcome to just show up at an advertised event (RSVP might be requested if reservations are needed).
ARE THERE MEMBERSHIP DUES?
Our chapter does not charge dues. Events and activities are "pay as you go." Each individual is responsible for paying for their meals and/or entertainment. We’ve found cash works best as it is sometimes hard to pay with individual credit/debit cards if we’re a large group.
HOW CAN I JOIN?
To become a member, simply email us your name and email address. We will add you to the Yahoo! Group email list. You are always free to suggest dates and activities – let your voice be heard! It’s then up to you to pick the events you want to participate in. We want to see you often! Our structure is very casual. The goal is to meet like-minded people and make new friends!
WHAT IF I/MY PARTNER GETS PREGNANT?
Then we wish you well and hope you will find participation in parenting groups rewarding and fun.
DO I NEED TO RSPV OR CAN I JUST SHOW UP?
You will usually need to let the event organizer know if you plan to attend. Some of our activities require reservations or an accurate head count. If you say you're coming, please make every attempt to be there. For an event at someone’s home, an RSVP is not as necessary, but would be appreciated.

WHY ISN’T THE FULL ADDRESS FOR SOME EVENTS LISTED ON YOUR WEBSITE?
When events are held at private homes, the event organizer will email the address and/or directions of the home to all who RSVP’d for the event. The full address for the event is not posted on the website to protect the privacy and security of those who are kind enough to host events at their homes.
HOW DO I FIND THE NO KIDDING! GROUP WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE EVENT?
The best way to identify us when you arrive at an event will depend on where the event is held. The event coordinator will send you details about the event for which you have signed up. Often we are the only group at the location so you just need to mention to the person at the entrance that you are meeting a large group of people. Reservations are generally held under the event coordinator’s name or “No Kidding” so that is another way to find us. If you see a group of people having fun and there are no screaming children nearby, that is probably us!
HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT EVENTS NO KIDDING! WILL OFFER AND WHEN?
We send out an email poll using Yahoo! Groups. Suggestions for dates, times & events are tossed around. We try to schedule diverse times (morning brunch, evening dinners, etc). Majority vote wins and the decision is posted on our website here.
IF I CHANGE MY MIND, HOW CAN I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM YOUR LIST?
Send a blank email to us and that will get you off our list. Also, instructions on unsubscribing are on the bottom of each email you receive from the list. According to Yahoo, it may take up to a couple of days for messages to stop being forwarded to you after you unsubscribe
